SZA's 'SOS' Sets New Record with 41 Weeks at No. 1 on Top R&B Albums Chart

SZA's sensational album, 'SOS,' has once again made history on Billboard's charts. The blockbuster album has now secured an unprecedented 41st consecutive week at the top spot on the Top R&B Albums chart, surpassing The Weeknd's 'After Hours' and marking a remarkable achievement since the list's inception in 2013.

This milestone was achieved on the chart dated Sept. 30, with 'SOS' amassing an impressive 53,000 equivalent album units during the tracking week of Sept. 15 to 21, as reported by Luminate. The album saw a 17% increase in units compared to the previous week, ending Sept. 14, thanks in part to a remix featuring Justin Bieber for the hit single "Snooze."

With its 41st week at No. 1, 'SOS' now holds the record for the longest-running chart-topper, surpassing The Weeknd's 'After Hours,' which enjoyed a 40-week reign from April 2020 to June 2021. Take a look at the updated rankings for this chart's 11-year history:

This latest achievement adds to the incredible success of 'SOS,' which began with its No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts in December. It spent 10 weeks at the top of the former and a record-breaking 21 weeks at No. 1 on the latter, setting a historic milestone as the longest stay for an album by a female artist in the chart's history and the longest run since 1990 for any LP.

Additionally, 'SOS' single "Kill Bill" held its own by spending an impressive 21 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, a record dating back to 1958
